Hey there Pop,
I heard a funny joke yesterday - I won't say good, because you know you never really liked good jokes :-)
A minister is visiting some of his parishioners, and he stops by to visit one lady that's 95 years old. They're talking while having tea, and he asks her "You know you're getting a bit older, have you spent much time thinking about the hereafter?".
And she replies "Oh sure, I do that all the time."
The minister said "Well, that is a good thing."
The little old lady said "Why just the other day, I walked down the stairs and and thought - 'now what am I here after?'"
I laughed till I cried, and then I cried. I miss you Pop, but I hope you liked the joke.
Talk to you later Pop, love you.

Hey there Pop,
Look at this ship I found today. It was so strange looking that I had to stop to get a better look at it. It's not like anything I've ever seen before, but I knew it was military - it just had that look. When I stopped I saw that it had the name "Freedom" on it, but sort of grayed out - not white. The whole lower part of the ship was sort of a standard gray and the upper parts of the ship were brighter, almost shiny. The top was very angular and it had a huge landing pad on the back - really different than anything I've seen.
I stopped to take a few pictures of it, since it was so strange. As I was getting out of the car and older gentleman pulled up and started talking to me about the ship. He said that it had just showed up yesterday morning, and that he thought it was the new Navy stealth destroyer. Turns out that he was right, I did a little research when I got back to the office and it's the USS Freedom. It was recently commissioned over in Wisconsin - how or why it's here I don't know, but it was cool to find.
The guy also knew about the freighter that I saw the other day. I only took the picture of the freighter because I liked that it was called the "American Integrity" and I saw it on that beautiful day after the election. But then I saw it again today as I was stopped at the Seaway Terminal (you know, where the tall ships were). He told me that it was a 1,000 foot freighter, that they carried coal back and forth to the St. Clair DTE plant and the best part, the guy lived on the St. Clair river and so he always came in close to shore near the terminal to wave to his wife - I thought that was nice.
I still want to find out what that ship is doing here in Port Huron, I'll let you know if I find out more.
Talk to you later Pop, love you.

Hey there Pop,
Did you realize that Keb' Mo' played on the last episode of West Wing? I've been re-watching the final season, they've been re-running them on Bravo. And the final episode was on Friday, and he was in the credits and then there he was...
I think they may be re-running the whole series - the pilot and second show taped today. I thought that they were just replaying the final season since it's so similar to the election (and it's result), but it looks like they're going to do more. So that's good - not that I really have the time to add two more hours of TV to my extended TV schedule. But I'm excited, it was a really good series, so I'm looking forward to it.
The strange thin is how similar the final season of the show was to the recent campaign and it's results. How could they have foretold that! A come from behind candidate that doesn't have the most experience, one that has young kids - oh yeah and the fact that he was Latino/African American. But they really did, interesting.
But anyway, it's interesting that way back then you probably liked it - and then you still managed to find him and like him. Life's funny that way.
Anyway, that's it for now - just thought you'd be interested.
Talk to you later Pop, love you.
